In 2014, Alice E. Tatah, leveraged her networks to launch a nonprofit organization that would extend her health education influence beyond the radio world. The feedback she got from people , especially in rural communities, who had solved a health problem by performing a behavior she promoted on her radio platform, fueled her passion to impact more lives by reaching individuals and households that did not own a radio set as well.
She founded the Center for Media and Strategic Communication (CMSC) in Yaounde in August 2014 with two main objectives: to develop and deliver effective social and behavior change communication interventions in grassroot communities; and to strengthen individual and institutional capacity in social and behavior change communication in Cameroon.
In response to the Anglophone crisis and based on identified needs, she rebranded the organization in 2018 to include humanitarian and economic empowerment programs, renamed it Community Health Promotion Network (COHEP), and moved its headquarters to Buea, South-West Cameroon. She also registered COHEP as a nonprofit organization in Maryland – USA in 2021 to support COVID-19 education among immigrant populations.
The organization has focused on helping individuals and communities to adopt and maintain health-seeking behaviors since its creation, and has used its networks to give targeted beneficiaries access to quality healthcare, including surgical interventions. COHEP has also been a trusted partner in supporting national and local health emergency and humanitarian efforts.
Our goal is to empower marginalized and vulnerable populations to take control over their health by making informed choices and by using available resources.
To prevent diseases, reduce ill-health and improve lives by developing and delivering effective behavior change interventions.

Alice E. Tatah (PhD) is a Harvard and Johns Hopkins trained journalist and strategic health communication professional. She previously worked for Cameroon’s Ministries of Education and Communication, Cameroon Radio and Television Corporation (CRTV), and UN Women Cameroon. Alice is committed to the empowerment of under - privileged and under-represented groups in society and is actively using her 28+ years of experience and skills to contribute to improving health and gender outcomes in Cameroon. She is passionate about global health, health equity, human rights, and gender equality.
