COHEP has reached hundreds of thousands of people with life-saving knowledge since 2014, majority of them women and girls. The organization has also used its networks to treat sick people who can not pay for basic healthcare services.
We cover communicable, non-communicable and endemic tropical diseases. We have the following core program areas: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; Cardiovascular diseases; Nutrition and Vaccination; Gender Based Violence (GBV); Mental Health; Malaria; Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)
Our SRHR programs focus on STIs, HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy prevention, menstrual health and hygiene, family planning, and sexual violence prevention (GBV). Our interventions have given in-school and out-of-school adolescent girls and teen – moms access to contents that have empowered them to improve their sexual and reproductive health.
Hypertension and diabetes are silent killer diseases in our project areas. We raise awareness about the risk factors, how to manage the disease conditions if affected, and we promote lifestyle changes that improve health. We also do door-to -door screening for hypertension and diabetes.
We put children at the center of our nutrition and vaccination programs. We promote the benefits of vaccination, we check records to identify missed-out cases, and we encourage parents to respect their children’s vaccination calendars. Our nutrition program highlights the importance of breastfeeding, and enables mothers to prevent malnutrition by cooking locally grown foods in healthy ways.
We raise awareness about any form of violence against women and girls, including sexual violence, child marriage, and female genital mutilation. We educate our target populations to recognize warning signs, and encourage them to speak out.
